The latest installment of my Discoveries of the Week Series. If you missed the others, there is some good stuff in there! This is going to be a short one. My wife and I are headed to MerleFest on Thursday. So I am writing this early in the week this time. Without further ado:
The first one, is from a company operating out of my home town, Greenville, SC. I mentioned it on Twitter April 26, and was almost immediately contacted by the developer. Seems like a nice guy.
What is it?
Basically, it is a file sharing service that allows you to view the shared file in the browser without having to download it. I checked out their blog, and they also have a Firefox and Chrome plug-ins that allow for uploading view the context menu. Looks like an exciting new tool.
I found Dropdo via the Smashing Magazine’s newsletter. Smashing Magazine sends out its newsletter every other week or so. It is a good way to stay updated with what is going on with Smashing Magazine and the Smashing Network of blogs. Plus you get to find out about interesting new items like Dropdo. As an added bonus they use my preferred email service provider, Mail Chimp.
This discovery comes from a blog that I have learned a lot from, CSS Tricks. The blog is written by Chris Coyer. He is a fantastic CSS developer and WordPress developer. He is the co-author of one of my favorite WordPress books, Digging Into WordPress.
In this article, he tinkers around with some blur effects on text. It is an interesting experiment, and maybe worth trying out in limited circumstances. Be sure to check out his demo at the end.
That is going to do it for this week. Told you it was going to be short!
Thanks for reading!
