I recently decided to start trying some of the contests on 99designs.com. They have all kinds of contests. Designing logos, buttons, icons, web sites, etc.
Basically, you pick out a project and create a design based on a short write up. There is a time limit that varies some. The person who initiated the contest picks a design at the end of the contest. The winning designer gets whatever amount of money that was set for the project by the person who initiated the project.
The price range is pretty good. Most of the higher priced ones get a good amount of entries typically.
The first one I picked was for a company called “Halifax Rejuventation Clinic”. Not sure why. I just had a good idea pop into my head once I read the transcript for the project. The project owner did not like the font I used in the first try. I resubmitted a couple more, and currently it is still several days before the contest ends.
After doing the revisions, I think my favorite is #3. I beefed up the outline of the image on the left and made part of the text bold. I really like the way that turned out.
Fingers crossed!
Bradley
P.S. Look for an update once the contest is over!
*Update:
Well my design wasn’t chosen. There ended up being over 100 entries. It was still a fun experience, and I will try it again sometime.
